Underside of brim covered with 4 way stretch black velvet,
the crown was made from three layers of black buckram, all painstakingly
pinned and hand stitched into place.

Top of brim, again lots of hand stitching to hold everything in place

Crown covered in same black velvet

Red/black taffeta marked out to make bias binding., ribbon and flower

All chalked out into even strips

Binding added over millinery wire, hand stitched underneath

Hole cut in brim ready to attach petersham ribbon and crown

Completed hat with chrysanthemum flower all hand made

front view, I was really pleased with this hat considering it was my first attempt
maybe should have left this one for later as it was quite difficult, but got there in the end.
